Working among the homeless and vulnerable in York is really important to us.
Over the last few years we have been involved with working among the homeless and vulnerable in a range of ways. We have worked with the university CU’s taking out hot drinks and sandwiches, spent time doing street walks just getting to know some of the homeless and beggers and building relationships with them. Some of the DTS decided to spend a night on the streets themselves to experience what it is like, and some have been involved in a cell group and art groups.
While recently we have been working more informally among the guys the salvation army and other groups are happy for us to be involved and reaching out and building relationships is very much part of our day to day lives in York not just something we do during “outreach time.”
