The Purpose of SOIP
The purpose of the SOIP is to
- provide further training in hearing God’s voice and responding with faith in intercessory prayer;
- to understand the character, nature and ways of God in prayer, intercession, worship and spiritual warfare
- to impart believers with an understanding of the principles and practice of intercession, worship and spiritual warfare for the fulfilment of God’s call on their lives, their ministry and work.
This will be done through lectures, discussions, research projects and practical application, including coordinating and leading prayer and worship.
Lecture weeks
There are 12 weeks of teaching from experienced and anointed speakers on topics such as:
- The link between intercession, worship and spiritual warfare
- The role of prayer in extending the Kingdom of God
- Worship
- Spiritual Authority and Warfare
- Nature and Character of God, how it impacts us in the place of prayer
- The personal life of the intercessor
- The Cross in the place of prayer
- Spiritual mapping and how to pray for cities and nations
- Strategic intercession
- Prophetic lifestyle
- How to flow in the anointing and gifts of the Holy Spirit
- Prayer evangelism
- The relationship between intercession and injustice
- Principles of leading corporate prayer
Outreach weeks
So that principles learnt during lectures can be integrated into a ministry context there will be a week of local outreach after every two weeks of teaching (totalling 6 weeks of outreach).
During these times there will be opportunities to:
- Serve alongside existing local church ministries in the city, for example Street Angels, Healing on the Streets, Summer Soul (student mission in the city).
- Spend time in YWAM York’s Prayer Room based on the ‘24/7 Prayer’ model.
- Come alongside some of YWAM England’s pioneering teams, strengthening them and helping them with strategic intercession.
- Do prayer assignments in the city – using prayer walking, worship, prophetic acts etc.
- Do a research assignment for a specific geographic location or people group.
- Be involved in nationwide prayer events such as The Global Day of Prayer and Prayer for Parliament.
- Pray in London for the Olympic Games which will be hosted there in 2012.
During the school we will also be travelling to France for a week of teaching and a week of praying in 3 major European cities.
Course Dates: 11th April to 12th August 2011.
(12 weeks of lectures interspersed with 6 weeks of local outreach)
Course Fees: Total cost of the 18 week school is £2300 with additional
travel and accommodation costs for 2 week prayer trip to Europe.
( approx £300 - £400)
Course Requirements: Completion of a DTS or CDTS
Additional Information:
Being a student or staff on the SOIP can also be integrated into the School of Pioneering and Leadership course (SDLP) which is run over two years.
There will be several weeks which will be open to seminar guests (no requirements necessary)
