DTS Overseas Outreach

YWAM is an international missions organization.

Our heart in YWAM York is to create an environment or a launching pad that would see people going out and making a difference throughout the nations. Overseas outreach is important on many different levels, it allows us to outwork all that we are learning within the classroom, it helps us to broaden our worldview and also to engage with Gods heart for the world.

During the year you will usually participate in a 2 week outreach in Europe. You may be assisting one of our leaders in taking a youth team (14-18 year olds) on a Teen – mission trip, or be part of a team checking out a new location to pioneer a ministry or YWAM team in! Previously we have sent teams to Latvia, Netherlands, Lithuania, Spain, Romania, Germany, France and Wales.

This is then followed by approximately 6 weeks of outreach further a field.  This time is designed to give you a missions taster as well as a context for applying all the things you have learnt during your time here.

What does an outreach look like?

We usually work with a local YWAM team in the location. This is exciting as it allows us to be most effective as we can serve the longer-term vision of those who live and serve there indefinitely. We have always found it a privilege to meet these people who have such a heart and passion for what they do. During outreach the team will continue to have regular times of worship, prayer and team meetings together. They often involve practical projects such as painting and decorating, working with soup kitchens and the poor, running programmes for street children, evangelism projects, 24-7 prayer initiatives, intercession and working with local churches and missionaries.
Countries we have visited in the past include France, India, Hong Kong, China and Argentina.
