Dave’s DTS Experience

Where did you do your DTS?

In York

Where did you go on outreach?

- 2 weeks in Amsterdam
- 7 weeks in China and Hong Kong

What was the highlight of your DTS?

There were loads of highlights but I think the most significant thing for me was seeing God weave together my love for art and for working with the poor; working out more of my calling.  I found in the DTS both the space and encouragment to explore both of these things and saw God show me how he could use every part of who He’d made me to be.  This wasn’t just in theory but became very practical as on outreach I had the opportunity to explore making art in Amsterdam’s red light district, with people suffering from leprosy in remote hills in China and with the homeless in the busy streets of Hong Kong, adventures I’ll never forget!
Why you’d recommend DTS at York to others?

I’D recommend the DTS here in York because it gives you an amazing environment to get to know God in a deep way that will rock your boat and you get to know yourself in the process.  I loved how York offered loads of different learning styles from the classroom to grassroots volunteering in the local community, as well as reading books, writing journals, meeting up with people one to one and in small groups.  Journeying together with a bunch of others for 10 months also meant that we really made some deep friendships as we went through so many adventures together!
